Martha is a born native to Jalisco, Mexico, and first generation in her family to pursue an education. Having migrated from a small village outside the United States, Martha's first encounter with the arts birthed from the emotional struggle of leaving her homeland to overcome poverty, lack of education, and limited employment opportunities. Hurt from loss and psychological pain, she turned to the arts for enlightenment. Specializing in media for dance, Martha produces works that pertain to religious and social conflicts, collaboration, community based-art and scholarly research.
