My name is Elizabeth Tripp. I am a 21 year old dancer from MA. I started dancing at the age of three, so I recently completed my eighteenth year of dance. I started out studying tap, but later studied jazz, lyrical, contemporary, modern, musical theatre and hip hop. When I went away to school at UMass Amherst in 2012, I began to take classes in salsa, merengue, bachata, pasada and kizomba. In 2012 I auditioned for the UMass Ballroom Dance Team and since then I have been competing on the collegiate circuit on the east coast. Now, I am the Secretary of our team and a Silver/Gold level Latin/Rhythm competitor competing in East Coast Swing, Mambo, Jive, Bolero,Paso Doble, Samba,International Cha Cha and Rumba, and American Cha Cha, and Rumba. Though I am busy with ballroom, may favorite type of dance is belly dance. I am the President of the UMass Belly Dance Club at UMass Amherst which has over fifty members. I am the teacher and choreographer for the group along with two other students. We compete for events all over our campus and have traveled to perform at Wesfield State University, Harvard and the House of Blues in Boston, MA.
