My name is Alexandra Politz; I am seventeen years old and a junior at Allen High School. I have been dancing since the age of three and currently train at Academy of Dance Arts in Allen, Texas. My dance studies include ballet, pointe, jazz, tap, contemporary and hip hop. I am a company member of the Dallas Repertoire Ballet as well as a member of the Academy of Dance Arts Senior Competition Team. For the Dallas Repertoire Ballet’s 2012 production of the Nutcracker, I was chosen to perform the role of Clara. It was truly a magical experience, one of which I am proud of and thankful for. The past three years I have worked as an assistant teacher at my studio. It fills me with pride and joy to share my passion for dance with the younger students. I love watching my students year after year improve their dance skills. My summer ballet acceptances include: Alvin Ailey, American Ballet Theatre, Bolshoi Ballet Academy, Joffrey New York, Orlando Ballet, Pittsburgh Ballet, Project Launch Dance Festival and The Rock School. Additionally, I have been accepted into the Ballet and Jazz Trainee programs for Joffrey South and Joffrey West. My past summer intensive attendance includes: Joffrey San Antonio (scholarship), The Jillana School and Glenda Brown Choreography Project (scholarship). I had the opportunity to perform “Tarantella” at Joffrey, “Serenade” at Jillana and “Sleeping Beauty” pas de deux at Glenda Brown. The past two summers I attended the New York City Dance Alliance National workshop and competition with a NYCDA Outstanding Dancer scholarship. In preparation for college auditions this coming fall, I plan to continue improving and broadening my dance technique by attending extra classes, workshops and Project Launch Dance Festival this summer in Sacramento, California.
