Eric Freeman - November 2016 Judges' Choice
A big thank you to Harlequin Floors, TheWorldDances, and judges. It's an honor for me to be selected as Judges' Choice November 2016. I began dancing when I was 11 years old at Beaufort Academy of Dance in Beaufort, South Carolina. This is where I studied various styles of dance such as ballet, lyrical, contemporary, modern, jazz, tap and hip hop. Jazz and hip hop have always been two of my favorite styles, but more often I have been becoming a huge fan of contemporary.
First, I would like to thank my parents for always supporting me. Also, thank you to Mrs. Aleisia Ashlaw, the owner of Beaufort Academy of Dance, for not only raising me as a dancer but giving me the opportunity to share my passion with others. This piece started out as choreography for an upcoming trio, unfortunately after having injured dancers it was unable to be performed. It then was changed and choreographed as a solo. Choreographing this piece was a challenging but exciting experience. I hope everyone enjoys watching it as much as I enjoyed performing it.
Attending conventions and competitions has always been fun. It allows dancers' eyes to explore outside the studio and also allows the dancer to learn new things. When competing against others, be proud of how you danced and enjoyed yourself and everyone's a winner. It's all an amazing experience in a supporting atmosphere.
I'm currently searching for auditions to attend and hoping to be featured in music videos soon. Opening my own dance studio and or starting a dance convention and competition has always been a dream of mine. Dance has always been a big part of my life and I would love to spread my passion and joy around the world. Again, thank you to everyone that voted and the judges for this opportunity!
