Denise Rodriguez - August 2016 Viewers' Choice

My name is Denise Rodriguez. I'm 15 years old and have been dancing since age 2. I study at Deborah Case Dance Academy where I take ballet, pointe, contemporary, and jazz classes at the moment. But I also have been taking tap, flamenco, hip hop, and arabic dance classes. This summer I attended a summer intensive with choreographer Florian Rouiller, Michael Rodriguez, and Katie Badgett. I have attended Bolsoi Ballet Summer intensive in Conneticut, Tremaine Convention, workshops with Irina Vakromeva and also summer intensives with Aleks Osadnik and Yloy Ibarra.

I wish to grow up to be a dance teacher. My teacher Deborah Case is my inspiration. My favorite ballet is Swan Lake, and my favorite female ballet dancer is Polina Semionova, while my favorite male ballet dancer is Sergei Polunin.
The work in my video is the choreography of Florian Rouiller, a dance teacher of Baltimore School of Arts, and it was an open class at the studio I attend. He taught us about techinique, condition and skills. Since 2008 I have performed a few roles for the Rio Grande Valley Ballet Nutcracker. i performed Clara 2 years ago and last year, in addition to other roles, I performed Arabian Queen.
Thank you for this Scholarship and for this oportunity for us dance students.
