I have been dancing for 9 years. I have received training from the Dance District, Debbie Allen Dance Academy, Gotta Dance Atlanta, Fuzion Force, Belmont School of Ballet, Charlotte School of Ballet, and Miss Donna’s School of Dance. I am currently an Atlanta Hawks Junior cheerleader. I study hip hop, jazz, ballet, lyrical, musical theater, and contemporary dance. I would like to acknowledge Jannelle Grey, the amazing tap choreographer of the piece in my video. My experience learning “Feet Don't Fail Me Now” was very fun, but in the beginning it was frustrating because I had a lot of new technique to learn. Performing was a totally different experience. This was one of my favorite tap solos and one of the most fun solos. This is my favorite solo because I got to show a lot of my personality and mastery of the complicated footwork. I love going to competitions because I like to get critiques from other dancers on my technique so that I know what to fix for my next competition. My advice is to always have fun, do your best, and know the feedback is only a judge’s opinion.
I won a scholarship to attend the Joffrey Tap Spectacular in Miami Florida that I can't wait to attend and I will be attending the Joffrey NYC Broadway experience Musical Theater Summer Intensive. My goals for the intensives are to learn different styles of tap. Also I would like to learn how to excel on Broadway by improving my stage presence and auditioning skills.
My grandmother inspires me to dance because she was one of my biggest cheerleaders before she passed and I like to dance in her memory. Also I like to dance because I am free to express my feelings in many ways.
In the future I plan to attend college and major in dance and business because I want to own a dance studio. Also I would like to provide scholarships to children who would like to dance but their families can't afford it.
