The Brookwood High School Dance Department has been serving students in Snellville, GA for 20 years. The dance department has approximately 100 students each year. Brookwood HS is a public school, part of the Gwinnett County Public School system, however, students audition to be placed in one of the 5 dance classes offered. We produce two major productions a year (some of those productions are cross-curricular projects), attend two different festivals and participate in community service projects.
We also have a unique class that we call Theater Dance that is reserved only for seniors. The class consists of 14 couples. The boys are non-dancers but are athletes. The girls are dancers who have been in the dance department for the duration of their high school career. We study all different types of ballroom dance and partner lifting. During our productions, the Theater Dance pieces are always the audience’s favorites! Everyone loves to see our school athletes on stage dancing!
