Parker McCarron – Viewers’ Choice Winner February 2014

I am a 17 year old high school senior.  I started dancing at Karen’s School of Dance (KSD) in Highland, Michigan when I was 2 ½ years old, which was when I was out of diapers!  I love to dance!  I study all forms of dance, beginning, of course, with ballet, as well as jazz, contemporary, lyrical, musical theater, tap and hip hop.  I am blessed to have been coached by owner and director, Karen Kern, and our ballet director, Liliya Ruhukya, from the very start of my dance education.  I love them both and they are wonderful coaches and mentors!  We also have a wonderful staff, including my older sister, Lynda McCarrron, and they make our studio a fun place to be!

I started competing when I was four years old in our studio’s “Sweetheart” program – and I was hooked!  KSD attends 4 to 5 regional competitions each year, plus nationals.  My favorite competition is Kids Artistic Revue (KAR).  I also attend 2 to 3 conventions each year such as Nuvo, In10sity, or NYCDA.  During the summer I attend summer dance camps and intensives hosted by my studio.  My goal is to attend the University of Tennessee and dance on their nationally award winning dance team!  I have been accepted and will be auditioning for the team in late April.  Since I live in Michigan, this scholarship opportunity will help to cover some of my expenses as out-of-state tuition costs are pretty high!

Thank you for watching my video and to all who voted for me!
