MIRO MAGLOIRE'S NEW CHAMBER BALLET

          Magloire presents his New Chamber Ballet in a new work to piano pieces by Lizst, along with repertory to music by Haydn and Luciano Berio.   New company member is Miriam Ernest, a member of the Suzanne Farrell Ballet.

       Butoh meets film noir when French dancer/choreographer Vangeline presents her ten-member company in the premiere of "5th" - 5 dances about the 5th: 5th Dimension, 5th Element, 5th Position, 5th Amendment, 5th of Beethoven.   Special guests are San Francisco-based butoh artist Shoshana Green, ballet dancer Sakie Hachiya, and musician Ysanne Spevack, a British violinist/vocalist of the Smashing Pumpkins.

POINTE SHOE WORKSHOP

       The School at Steps, a division of Steps on Broadway, announces a Pointe Shoe Workshop, beginning with a discussion on pointe shoe fitting and maintenance, and more, with Dr. Brummer, pointe shoe fitter Mary Carpenter, master teacher Lisa Lockwood, and NYCB soloist Savannah Lowery.   The discussion will be followed by a fair with pointe shoe fitters from Capezio, Chacott by Freed, Gaynor-Minden and Grishko.

TEAHOUSE PERFORMANCES AT CHEN DANCE CENTER
Thursday-Saturday, February 20-22, pre-show reception at 7 PM; performance at 7:30 PM

         For the end of the one-month celebration of the lunar new year, the company celebrates with lanterns, refreshments (before and during the performance), and a performance of works by H.T. Chen: an excerpt of his new "South of Gold Mountain," based on the Chinese immigrants who settled in the American South after WWII, and recreation of a 1984 duet "Spring Song," to music by Li Tai-Shiang, major Taiwanese composer who died just after New Year's 2014.

CHAMBER OPERAS BY MARTIN HALPERN
February 27, 28 & March 1 at 8 PM; March 2 at 3 PM
Shetler Studios, 244 West 54 St, 12th floor  (between Broadway & Eighth Avenue)
      Halpern presents two short chamber operas: "The Lower Drawer," a monodrama about a character preparing to move and re-living his past while packing items from his desk drawers; and "The Damned Thing," a dreamlike allegory about a man and a woman trying to assemble a "grand construction" that is missing a part.
